Head of Production and Distribution

As head of production and distribution, Anne Tarrant is responsible for overseeing the company-wide production of projects through each phase, from project development through final delivery, operations and corporate and legal affairs.  She oversees the worldwide distribution of our films with the goal of reaching the widest possible audiences.

Tarrant brings 25 years of experience in cable television to HHMI Tangled Bank Studios. She is an Emmy award-winner who has worked at multiple cable networks and production companies, including a six-year stint running her own firm. Tarrant has produced documentaries for Discovery Channel, National Geographic, Nat Geo WILD, PBS and History Channel, among other networks. The films she has sheparded were shot around the world and span a wide range of topics including natural history, science, engineering and history. They have been honored with awards including Emmys, Wildscreen Pandas, Jackson Hole Wildlife Film Festival honors, and a GLADD.

Before joining HHMI Tangled Bank Studios, Tarrant was the senior producer for National Geographic Television’s Natural History Unit, where she was responsible for overseeing the landmark series “Great Migrations” and “Untamed Americas,” as well as dozens of specials. Earlier in her career, Tarrant served as director of story development for Discovery Channel, Science Channel and Discovery Times, and executive produced several specials and series. Tarrant was a partner and CEO of Rubin Tarrant Productions, where she developed, pitched and sold programs, and produced shows for outlets including TLC, PBS and National Geographic. Tarrant holds an MBA from Georgetown University and a Bachelor of Arts in communications.
