Science Content Fellow

Rachel Fritts supports HHMI Tangled Bank Studios as a science and science journalism specialist across studio projects, with a focus on the “Wild Hope” series. She oversees fact checking and provides editorial review on all Tangled Banks Studios projects to ensure the accuracy and clarity of scientific content. Rachel also contributes to digital impact and outreach efforts by writing, editing and publishing content for the “Wild Hope” website and other digital platforms. 

Rachel brings more than eight years of experience in digital science communication to her role. Before joining HHMI Tangled Bank Studios, Fritts worked as a writer/editor for the American Bird Conservancy, where she wrote about conservation and government policies affecting birds in the United States. Prior to that, she worked as a science and environmental journalist, writing for the PBS Digital Studios series “Eons,” as well as a wide range of news outlets including The Guardian, Science Magazine, Audubon Magazine, and Mongabay.

Rachel holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from Grinnell College and a master’s degree in science writing from MIT.
